Hundreds of laps under his belt in testing – Taiyo Aksu is ready to race in Barcelona

Current ESBK Superstock 600 Championship leader, Taiyo Aksu has been busy this past weekend. The Aussie teen spent two days on Motorland Aragon followed by a day at Navarra, both of which resulted in impressive lap times, and a huge amount of data which bodes well for the #89 Yamaha mounted rider when the series races at the two venues later in the year.

With good pace at both tests, Aksu’s team are understandably buoyed by the speed shown by the two tests, confirming that over 150 laps were completed across the three days of riding.

Being back on a bike during what is an incredibly long break between the opening round, that saw him double podium, and round two which is set to take place at the Catalunya circuit in the middle of June, was welcomed by Taiyo who left Navarra yesterday full of confidence.

Taiyo Aksu:

“I spent the past three days back on track with two days in Aragon and then a day in Navarra and I am really happy with how it went. We passed our objectives at both tracks and got heaps of new data and left with a really good set-up for both tracks. It was a bit harder at Aragon as it was a track day so there was a bit of traffic here and there, but we were still able to put together some quick times. Navarra was a private Yamaha test so thanks to them for putting it on. I had four one-hour sessions and in one day I was able to put in more than ninety laps. We were consistently fast which is encouraging for when we race at these tracks later in the year. Now I am focused on Barcelona, and I am confident after these three days that we can be strong again when the championship restarts. A big thanks to the team and everyone who is supporting me.”

Round Two of the ESBK Championship takes place over the weekend of June 20-22 at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya with Taiyo ready to defind his STK600 Championship lead.
