Double Podium closes successful ESBK Stock 600 season for Taiyo Aksu

Taiyo Aksu has finished the 2025 ESBK Superstock 600cc Championship as he began – with a double podium at the iconic Circuito de Jerez Angel Nieto in Southern Spain.
Taiyo, who took his maiden win in the highly competitive series last time out in Portugal, arrived at the Spanish venue confident of ending the season on a high – and as practice began, it was clear that the #89 ARCO University Team Yamaha rider would be in contention for the win in both races.
Mixed conditions in qualifying on Saturday morning saw Taiyo fifth in his category on the grid, but an exceptional opening lap in Saturday’s opening encounter saw him leading before the end of the opening lap. A red flag saw the race cut short with Taiyo classified second after he was overtaken just before the stoppage.
Sunday’s race ran to its full length of sixteen laps with Taiyo once again making places from the start. Involved in a four-way fight for the podium he eventually took the flag in third, to consolidate fourth overall in the Spanish championship – an incredible achievement for the teenager in only his second year of racing in Europe.
Taiyo will now end the year with a wildcard appearance for the team in Valencia in a fortnight. He will contest the final round of the 2025 FIM Junior GP Championship.
Taiyo Aksu:
“Overall I am really happy with how the final two races played out. I had a strong pace on Saturday and Sunday and was fighting for the podium. Qualifying was difficult with a patchy track, and it took me a bit of time to get up to speed and then when I did, I caught traffic. I made an amazing start and was very aggressive and ended up leading on lap one. Unfortunately, it ended on a red flag, but I was happy with how I was riding. I had the fastest lap by half a second which was also nice to see. On Sunday I was fighting for second the whole race and brought it home in third. We improved so much during the season both on and off track and I don’t really have any complaints. We had some downs during the season but that’s racing but we definitely had more ups. I want to thank the team for all their hard work, not just this weekend but all season. Now we go to Valencia where I just want to enjoy the event and then I can start to focus on what I will do in 2026!”
