Biography

Riding motorcycles since he was seven years old, Taiyo Aksu is fast becoming one to watch in the world of motorcycle road racing.

Dabbling in off road riding, Taiyo made his road racing debut in 2021 and in just four short years has become one of the front runners in the ultra-competitive ESBK Spanish Championship – a series seen by many in the sport as the prequel to the world championship!

After top ten finishes in his native Australia in 2021, Aksu remained on home shores for the 2022 season, racking up numerous race victories and narrowly missing the title in both the Yamaha R3 Cup and the Australian Supersport championship.

A year competing in the All-Japan Championship, another high-level domestic series followed in 2023. A regular top ten finisher, Taiyo also made a one-off appearance in the Asia Pacific Yamaha R3 Cup in Thailand – which he won!

Taiyo turned his attention to the European scene in 2024. Focusing solely on the ESBK Spanish Championship he joined world championship winning team ARCO Motorsport for a full assault in the Superstock 600cc series. He finished ninth overall with a best result of sixth – impressive stuff for a rider who had never previously raced in Europe.

He remains Yamaha mounted with the ARCO Motorsport squad for the 2025 season and has already proved himself as a title contender thanks to a double podium finish in the opening round of the championship.
